"Nasa Goodbye" [MP3/Stream]

New Music: Babe, Terror: "Nasa Goodbye" [MP3/Stream]

Without knowing a whole hell of a lot about the single male voice behind São Paulo noise-organizer Babe, Terror (like, well, his name) it seems reasonable to assume he's a young man. Partly because the four songs recently posted on his MySpace page are reminiscent of Animal Collective's water-color smear, partly because the accompanying photos are, fittingly, of children.  Mostly, though, because grown men do not bang on tables, nor do they record themselves banging on tables, and least of all do they sit around and think of clever ways to manipulate recordings of themselves banging on tables.

On "Nasa Goodbye" Terror dials up a weird choir, juxtaposing sighs over a booming bass syllable that will give you hope that Danjahandz isn't the only artist taking cues from Timbaland. Or think low-petrol TV on the Radio stripped of skillful execution but left with all of their wiliest lycan instincts. Terror adds something approximating a verse (sung, presumably, in Portuguese), but the star of the show is the deliberate, wordless tone-drip, an IV of night noises. Whoever, or whatever, "Nasa" is, consider he/she/it appropriately eulogized.
