Of Montreal Reveal Cover, Tracklist, Tour, New Member!
Woo, nekkid people! Let your eyes be dazzled by those bright colors and smoothed-down nether regions, everybody, then get this: that there's the image that'll grace the front of each and every copy of Skeletal Lamping, the forthcoming set from psych-pop crazies Of Montreal.
Due October 7 from Polyvinyl, the album follows fairly hot on the ultra high heels of Pitchfork's fifth favorite album of 2007, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? The full tracklist for Skeletal Lamping is available after the jump, and man alive, do I ever wanna take a gander at the lyric sheet for "Women's Studies Victims". (Last month, OM spiritual leader Kevin Barnes blogged about the creation of the album.)
So what else is new in the wild world of Of Montreal? Well, they recently welcomed a new member into their fold: Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane. (That name sound familiar? Well, you might have seen him filling in on the last Caribou tour.)
Sinkane will play double duty with Kev. and co. this fall, opening a handful of Of Montreal's forthcoming Midwest shows, with L.A. noiseniks HEALTH handling the same slot at a few West Coast dates. The band heads to Europe for a few dates next month, and will return for a spell come October.
Here's a new photo of the current band lineup:
