Superchunk Complete Eighth Album

If this has anything to do with that Goonies kid, we quit
Fans of Superchunk can now rejoice, as the follow-up to Come Pick Me Up is now slated for official release. Superchunk's eighth studio album, Here's to Shutting Up, will be available to the public on September 19th. Recorded at Zero Return Studios in Atlanta, the record is said to "expand their sound and venture in exciting new directions." But then, isn't that what's said of every band's new album? The first single from the album, "Late Century Dream," will be released on August 21st, and the band is planning an extensive tour, including shows in Europe and Japan.

Brian Paulson, who also manned the boards for Superchunk's 1994 release, Foolish, has once again handled the production details, making him the first to work the boards for two different Superchunk albums. Kudos, Brian, you're a real mensch.
