Planning on getting drunk and sleeping in this Labor Day weekend? Well, go ahead and do that, but you also might want to consider checking out Bloomington Fest, a weekend-long multi-venue music and arts festival in Bloomington, Indiana.

Originally conceived as a way to enjoy a cheap weekend out, the ticket prices remain reasonably cheap, especially for the volume of artists involved. But it's not the same dorky emo bands and cheesy local hardcore outfits you generally see at "fests." An amazing number of bands you've actually heard of from the East and Midwest will be playing, notably Songs: Ohia, the Danielson Famile, the Faint, and Unwound. Unwed Sailor will also play their last show for quite some time at the Fest. Take a look at the Bloomington Fest website for information and a full schedule.
