Beastie Boys Plan, Headline Benefit Show

Tibet apparently no longer a stylish world issue
There have been a slew of concerts to benefit victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks, but they haven't exactly been hipster fare. Fortunately, the Beastie Boys have decided to change that by organizing two show in New York City, to be held on October 28th and 29th at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Proceeds from the show will benefit two charities: The New York Women's Foundation and the New York Association for New Americans. A number of artists are scheduled to appear, including fresh-faced rockers the Strokes, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Mos Def, Cibo Matto, Rival Schools, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the Roots, DJ Afrika Bambaataa, and the B-52's, who it seems no one had the heart to turn away. The Beasties will perform a "short hip-hop set" with beat-matching heartthrob Mix Master Mike. The full lineup for each night is available at the Beastie Boys website.
