Gorillaz Single to Hit Stores in May

Monkey cock. There, we said it. The impending arrival of a new Gorillaz album has been presaged by a new Flash game at Gorillaz.com, in which you can wander through Kong Studios, finding information about the band and their music, and seeing a lot of cartoon animal genitalia. We aren't sure of the actual reason for all this, although a visit to Gorillaz message boards assured us that the game contained many more things we hadn't yet discovered, including Nazi corpses, at which point we breathed a collective sigh of relief that when we signed up for the website, we hadn't used our real names or addresses.

That new album we were speaking of is Demon Days, due out May 24, as previously reported in Pitchfork, and its first single now has a release date as well: "Feel Good Inc." hits the British singles market on May 9. The single includes a guest appearance by De La Soul, while its B-sides in the various single formats (CD, 7", and DVD) will include "Spitting out the Demons", "68 State", and "Bill Murray". The video, like those from the first album, will be directed by Jamie Hewlett and Pete Candeland.

Looking to the future, there are rumblings that a third Gorillaz album may appear without another four-year gap, at least if cartoon monkeys can be trusted. (And at this point, why not?) The band's guitarist, Noodle, told their official fansite, "I am already busy demo-ing for the third Gorillaz album. Then this trilogy will have its conclusion."
