TV on the Radio New Album Details Revealed
The last time we reported on the status of TV on the Radio's forthcoming album, Return to Cookie Mountain, we had very little confirmed information and lots of questions: Is the version that's floating around online the real thing? Is that really David Bowie singing backup on "Province"? When's the damn thing coming out? And why did they leave Cookie Mountain in the first place?
Well, now we have some answers. Although we still aren't completely sure that the album we've been grooving to since February is the one that's going to appear on record store shelves, or that the Cookie Mountain exit had something to do with a diet, we do know that it is indeed Bowie.
And thanks to the 4AD website, we now know the album's overseas release date (July 3) and tracklist:
01 I Was a Lover
02 Hours
03 Province
04 Playhouses
05 Wolf Like Me
06 A Method
07 Let the Devil In
08 Dirty Whirl
09 Blues from Down Here
10 Tonight
11 Wash the Day Away
Sure looks a lot like the "wildly unconfirmed" one we found floating around online in February.
We also know what the cover is going to look like. Yep, that's a 4AD record all right:
On July 17, 4AD will release the single for "Wolf Like Me", available in both CD and 7" formats. In addition to "Wolf Like Me", the CD version features "Things You Can Do", while the 7" contains "Snakes and Martyrs".
Interscope Records, who are putting out Cookie Mountain in America, are mum on the details of the album's Stateside release. An August 1 date has been reported by various publications, but according to an Interscope publicist, nothing is confirmed.
TV on the Radio just wrapped up a stint opening for Nine Inch Nails, and they have a few summer gigs lined up, including an Australian mini-tour and a date at the Hollywood Bowl with Massive Attack (TVOTR guest on their new album).
