In celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the first one, the latest annual Bang on a Can Marathon went down this past weekend at New York City's World Financial Center Winter Garden.

The free event featured performances from all manner of ensembles and innovative music makers-- even a pair of dudes rocking instruments made from plumbing equipment. Indie heavyweights Yo La Tengo (in jazz formation with bassist Matt Heyner, drummer Britt Walford, percussionist Elson Nascimento, and harpist Pat "P.G. Six" Gubler) were also on hand-- along with the Books (with BOAC's Todd Reynolds for one song), Dälek, Juana Molina, and Clogs-- for the 26 consecutive hours of sound generation. Sleep is overrated!
