New Magnetic Fields Album Due Next Year

New Magnetic Fields Album Due Next Year Magnetic Fields mastermind Stephin Merritt is ready to end a quiet period that has lasted most of this year, though he's not revealing the exact details of his or the band's return just yet. An update to his website claims "the new Magnetic Fields album is now planned for release in early 2008," though "the exact release date and album title will be announced shortly, as well as information on other Stephin Merritt projects."

The Magnetic Fields will likely tour the U.S. after the album is released.

While we wait for more info regarding the mysterious album, tour, and "other projects," Merritt is working on several new theater productions, including an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Coraline for the stage.
