Since 2005's Hysterical Stars, former Nebraskans and current Chicagoans Head of Femur have paired their numbers down from 20+ to just five, and this reduction to fighting weight has them ready to release new music.

First up is a limited edition EP titled Leader and the Falcon, which will come out October 2 via Extant Records. The EP's title track comes from the band's third full-length, Great Plains, which is tentatively scheduled for release later this year or early next year.

Head of Femur also have a nice little U.S. tour assembled for the fall in support of the EP. Additional dates are forthcoming, and the crew will first dust off its gear for an August 16 gig in Chicago.
