Apparently, the New Pornographers are not as tough as Challengers' title implies.

Adding insult to chicken pocked injury for the poor indie rock-loving residents of Winnipeg, the Pornos have canceled their October 15 show at the Garrick Center in the fair Canadian city. This comes just days after Wilco canceled a show in the same city.

The band offers the following explanation:

"Our tour bus driver realized that it was going to be close to a 17 hour drive, which really would not have been safe for anyone in the touring party to do in one night. We're really sad about having to do this, but rest assured Winnipeg, we will be coming to visit you soon!"

Winnipeg, we feel your pain. We hear that the planning for these wedding things is pretty time-consuming, but is there no one in the NP camp who could have thought of this complication before scheduling the show?

The rest of the band's tour remains intact.
