It was 1977 all over again-- sort of-- as no wave legends Teenage Jesus and the Jerks reunited to perform at NYC's Knitting Factory Friday night with none other than Thurston Moore on bass. A fitting pair-up, considering the gig was held in conjunction with the launch of No Wave: Post-Punk. Underground. New York. 1976-1980, that new tome documenting the storied scene and penned by Moore and Byron Coley.

Attendees also got a taste for the era thanks to an exhibit of photographs, gig flyers, and the like. No Wave: Post-Punk. Underground. New York. is available now via Abrams Image, though it's not to be confused with No Wave, written by Pitchfork contributor Marc Masters, excerpted not too long ago on Pitchfork, and also available now (via Black Dog Publishing). It probably won't be long before there are more no wave books than no wave recordings, but hey, we ain't complaining.
