Can's the band with no plan, a psychedelic groove unit straight outta late '60s Germany ready to turn on, tune in, and drop sounds out of their psylocibin-flushed brains. (Picture a more groove happy and less self-indulgent Pink Floyd.) Can's work looms large over a lot of industrial and psychedlic bands to this day, so it's only fitting that the obligatory remix tribute album finally made its debut. Sacrilige is 2 CDs of sonic testament to the legends of yesterday's Krautrock and today's techno artists.

Disc one features remixes by Brian Eno, Sonic Youth, UNKLE, A Guy Called Gerald, The Orb, Pete Shelley, 3P, System 7, and Carl Craig. As far as remixes go, a lot of these are pretty faithful. If you're a Can fan, you'll probably enjoy how embellishments are made to almost everything except Can's signature percussion. Some embellishments are more than welcome (the more melodic and much shorter 3P getdown on "Yoo Doo Right"), while others are kind of grating (the judle remix of "Blue Bag.") Overall, the results are usually exciting and always groovy.
