So finally, after a couple of pretty lame attempts to recapture the sound they made so famous in the late eighties/early nineties, the Cramps have put a record out worthy of their own name. Big Beat From Badsville has all the naughty umph! of a burlesque striptease soundtrack, perfectly matched to the sultry growl of Lux Interior's trademark growl. This may be yet another album that leaves men scratching their heads in puzzlement at its popularity, while their girlfriends and wives insist on playing it over and over at the oddest places and times.
