As any penicillin-snorting Willie Nelson can tell you, I get skittish around drugs. "It's not you, it's the E talking" is Soulwax's big hook from the band's latest single-- you can imagine how much that fucks with my head. The original's OK-- sounds like a better Faint or a shittier Andrew W.K., your pick. But if you hate designer drugs as much as I do, Rex The Dog's remix is the only option. Belgian butt rock gets the boot, splashes of synth and a torrent of Korgy stutter fills the void, and-- God bless you, Rex-- the shit never talks. In the grand scheme, "E-Talking" pales compared to most of Mr. Dog's other remixes (watch him go off on The Knife's "Heartbeats" and Client's "Radio"), but Christ, I'll take this over bacterial antibiotic resistance anyday.
