A-Side: Daft Punk
“Technologic”
“remixes”

Hey, remember Human After All? "Technologic" was the "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" analogue, the booty chipmunk track with the spoken word bit ("name it/read it /tune it/print it/scan it/fax, rename it") that sounded like it was made with Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, or Apple in mind (big surprise: Jobs got there first). Anyway, whatever you think of it, it's a pretty obvious choice for a single, so here we are with remixes courtesy of Vitalic, Basement Jaxx and Peaches. Not being much of a programmer, Peaches doesn't have many remix options here, so instead she delivers a faithful cover that reimagines the original as a sparse, attitudinal rock track.

Not surprisingly, Basement Jaxx go the other way and cram every bit of empty space with a noise from their man-sized grab bag of party favors. It's a strong remix (a little six-dimensional, maybe), but the topper here comes from Vitalic, who out-Daft Punked Daft Punk this spring and now returns to re-acquaint some noses with some dirt. Anyone with a passing knowledge of Fanfares probably has a good sense of what his remix is about: An artfully constructed flurry of metallic squelches and fax machine sounds that blenderizes "Technologic" nice and good. This is the EP's centerpiece.
