Crazy
People forget Cee-Lo's been singing for years. From Goodies to crooked booties to soul machines, the Atlanta shaman has always walked the line between glee club and new age Donny Hathaway. There's something in that voice that's not quite right; I could never figure out whether he was ribbing or riding. But he's never sung like this. Buoyed by the Enya-meets-heavy bass hybrid production courtesy the industrious (if erratic) Danger Mouse, Cee-Lo's high-pitched, scatchy tenor has never sounded better, mostly because he's cut the quirk. Finally, Cee-Lo's embraced the soul he keeps talking about.
