Most of All [ft. Jeremy Greenspan]

Synthesizers don't come much brighter than on Morgan Geist's new single, "Most of All"; the colors of spun gold, sour honey, and fritzy neon, they're almost unbearably luminous-- shiveringly so, far more than on any of the Metro Area member's other slices of italo-techno-funk. That is, until Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan drops his voice like a pair of shades and some judicious Rhodes throws shadows amid the track's underbrush, where clarinets (not really) and a stubby bassline forage and strut, bearing their truffles like trophies.

Jeremy's hardly guarded, though, lying naked in his bed and dreaming of his object of desire: "I know that I'm in love with you/ Most of all," he sings. "It makes me want to..."-- and here's where we lose the thread, because while "call" would be the natural fit, it sure sounds like he's saying "crawl." And since the backing track's too sweet for masochism, we're left with some kind of infantilization fantasy that is, to say the least, odd. Good thing Area man's disco/pop (proportions vary depending upon volume) backing is truly a soothing sound for baby; there are even countryish slide-guitar sounds for playing horsey, and a bumping conclusion that takes us out on a "ZOOM" tip.
