My Love (DFA Remix)

In simpler times, this review would have written itself: "Awesomest-dudes-ever, DFA, remixing suckiest-dude-ever, Justin Timberlake? Must be awesome." Only now that guys like me give 5-star reviews to the sucky dude in question, it doesn't leave that much room for the awesome dudes to be awesomer. The best DFA could do was equal the original's awesomeness with their own awesomeness, and, in a surprising turn of events for the internet, Tim and James have merely given us a slightly sucky version of their trademarked awesome.

Call me Coconuts, but just because something is supposed to be awesome does not preclude it from actually sucking. Not that this remix sucks. It's just not that awesome. It's kind of awesome that DFA fronted JT's sucky falsetto and super-sucky lyrics, but I kind of feel like I've heard this bassline/snare combo before, and that sucks. It also kind of sucks that I have to listen to so much of that kinda sucky bassline/snare combo and sort of awesome sucky singing before the kind of awesome mini-breakdown in the middle section. It also might be awesome that DFA could have given JT the most suckily awesome remix possible because they thought it sucked that he thought they were awesome, but that would be conjecture on my part.

What's really awesome is that some dude already made an awesome edit of the non-sucky parts of the remix and posted it in the comments section of the same blog that leaked the kind of sucky remix of the awesome original. What sucks is that the awesome edit of the awesome song (sucky remix) now sucks because all of the awesome people who made their own sucky remixes of it.
