M83, Ulrich Schnauss Announce U.S. Tour

Ever since M83's first North American tour this past September, we've been making angel silhouettes in a vast, snow-peppered field, just hoping that the band will come back to play for us again. We really don't have much to do. Anyway, in support of his latest French delicacy, Before the Dawn Heals Us, Anthony Gonzalez will be taking M83 through France starting this month before traversing the political divide in April. The tour will consist of 14 North American shows, concluding with a spot at the Coachella festival in Indio, Calif., where they will be performing alongside every goddamn band in the universe.

Though Before the Dawn Heals Us was recorded as a solo project by Gonzalez after the departure of collaborator Nicolas Fromageau, M83 will be repeating last fall's touring outfit as a four-piece. And in symbolic display of European unity, shoetronic German act Ulrich Schnauss will be tagging along for the ride. Now don't you feel isolated? Thanks, France:

Boredoms Book North American Shows

After a hazy five-year hiatus, the Boredoms dropped Seadrum/House of Sun on us last fall seemingly out of nowhere. Sometime between its release and the release of its predecessor Vision Creation Newsun, the band experienced a dismantling of sorts, with most accounts indicating that guitarist Seiichi Yamamoto and bassist Hila Y had left the group.

At any rate, we're pretty sure they all got together late last year and put Seadrum/House of Sun together (maybe). And now, once again out of the blue, we've been handed a couple of U.S. tour dates from our legendary freak-out friends from the East. Of course, straight information is always hard to come by with the Boredoms, so while this may not be Gospel, it sure is damned tantalizing. No?

05-17 Los Angeles, CA - Knitting Factory
05-19 San Francisco, CA - The Independent
05-21 Chicago, IL - Logan Square Auditorium
05-23 Victoriaville, Quebec - Festival Actuelle

Lyrics Born to Issue LP in April

Lyrics Born-- Bay Area hip-hop mainstay and co-founder of Quannum Projects-- will be releasing somewhat of a follow up to Later That Day..., titled Same !@#$ Different Day on April 26th. We say "somewhat" because Same !@#$ Different Day is for the most part a remix album, although it does feature five new tracks. "With Same !@#$ Different Day, I wanted to link up with outside producers and artists I admire, who could help me get beyond my own limitations," Lyrics Born said. "Most of the 'remix' tracks have entirely new lyrics, music, or both, and feature a slew of guest artists that weren't present on the originals."

And as for those outside producers and artists, Lyrics Born's established ties to West Coast hip-hop have yielded, for this album, production spots by DJ Shadow ("Over You" and "The Last Trumpet"), Dan the Automator ("I'm Just Raw"), and Chief Xcel ("I Can't Wait for Your Love"), while he's joined on the mic by such MCs and vocalists as Joyo Velarde, KRS-One, Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), Lateef the Truth Speaker, E-40, and Casual (of Hieroglyphics). The album will also feature a bonus disc with a Morcheeba remix of "Stop Complaining" and DJ Spinna mix of "I Changed My Mind". On the album proper, prominent remixers include Cut Chemist, Young Einstein, DJ D Sharp, and Jumbo the Garbageman. While we're at it, we might as well give you the tracklist, too:

01 Intro
02 Hello Remix
03 Pack Up Remix
04 I'm Just Raw
05 Do That There (The Young Einstein Hoohoo mix)
06 I Changed My Mind (Stereo MC's Rattlesnake mix)
07 Bad Dreams Interlude
08 Shake It Off (Bad Dreams Part II)
09 The Last Trumpet (Halou Remix)
10 Over You
11 I Can't Wait for Your Love (Limited Time Offer)
12 The Bay
13 Callin' Out Remix
14 Outro
Bonus tracks:
15 Stop Complaining [Morcheeba/Capricorn 2 Remix]
16 I Changed My Mind [DJ Spinna mix]

Yet even more mind-boggling than Same !@#$ Different Day's cast of characters is Lyrics Born's upcoming tour. After returning from a short stint in Australia, Lyrics Born will kick off the tour with a Quannum Projects showcase of sorts in San Francisco before winding his way through the nether regions of America and Canada.
