Weezer Set Release Date and U.S. Tour For Make Believe

After months of delays (so many of them, in fact, that they've rolled over into years) in the completion of their fifth album, it's sort of hard to believe that geek-core elder statesmen Weezer are actually about to deliver the follow up to 2002's Maladroit. And not only does the self-produced/Rick Rubin-mentored Make Believe have a confirmed release date of May 10, the band's official website has also just announced U.S. dates in support of the disc. While we were able to pass along the band's European tour plans earlier this month, the following U.S. dates represent Weezer's first shows on their home turf in almost three years.

As previously reported during our ongoing scrapbooking of its Tolkien-length journey to stores, Weezer's Make Believe is being released on Geffen, and will be preceded by the single "Beverly Hills" in late March. And while the album's tracklist is still under wraps for God knows what reason, the Playboy Mansion-based "Beverly Hills" video (directed by Marcos Siega) should offer a suitable distraction for eager fans. Yeah, kind of nice to know Rivers and the gang aren't letting the perks afforded by their 2001 Travolta-caliber comeback go to waste, huh?!
