Super Furry Animals Announce Fall UK Tour

After just completing a low-key set of dates debuting songs from their forthcoming record Love Kraft, Super Furry Animals have announced a UK tour to start shortly after the album's release in August. Before the album promo work and these fresh dates, the band will play their fair share of festival slots.

The high demand for Super Furry appearances isn't hard to understand-- they now have seven albums and several singles of trademark SFA pop-punk-prog-psych to tenderize even the most jaded audience member into a grinning, applauding mess, not to mention a recent solo album by lead singer Gruff Rhys. And through exhaustive touring, the band have earned a reputation as a remarkably sound live act, with shows including with long sets of tunes, DJ interludes, far-out sound technology, over-the-top props and stage invaders in the form of costume-attired mascots.

Speaking of on-stage costumed characters, it pains us at Pitchfork to report that the band's beloved yeti costumes are apparently history. According to Rhys, speaking to NME.com, the yetis' replacements will be more avant-garde than anyone expects: "There is gonna be something but it's gonna be post-robots. It's very futuristic, whereas the robot is history. The thing is, this thing is so new it doesn't even have a name." Here's an idea for you, Gruff-- robot yetis. Too crazy? Think it over and let us know.
