Gang of Four to Be Remixed By YYYs, Ladytron

As previously reported, seminal post-punks Gang of Four are busy prepping the release of Return the Gift, a double LP combining re-recorded Gang of Four classics with a selection of remixes and reinterpretations by other bands. Some of today's buzz bands-- Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, the Futureheads-- were rumored to be in the mix as contributors. As it turns out, none of those three bands are providing material; however, the tracklisting for the second disc (as revealed by NME) includes contributions by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ladytron, the Rakes, Dandy Warhols, No Doubt's Tony Kanal, and Hot Hot Heat, among others. The two-disc package is currently scheduled for October 10.

Speaking with NME.com, guitarist Andy Gill said, "It was quite interesting to see who popped up and wanted to do it. I didn't think Ladytron would do something nor the Dandy Warhols-- but I really like what they've done-- I really like it." Really? Okay, good.

The first CD features the original Gang of Four lineup of Gill, Jon King, Dave Allen, and Hugo Burnham. As Gill said in the aforementioned interview: "I like those records a lot but I don't think they sounded anything like what we sounded like live, and that's something we complained about at the time. This does." Here's how the complete tracklisting looks:
