In Denmark, this story would not be the timeliest of news items, but while we strive for worldwide coverage, a few import releases here and there might slip pass the Pitchfork Newsdesk. That said, rejoice! The new Junior Senior album, Hey Hey My My Yo Yo is already available through Crunchy Frog Recordings' website, home of the Danish dance-pop duo's domestic releases. The follow- up to their 2003 debut, D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat, the new album features 11 tracks and guest appearances from Le Tigre, Kate and Cindy from the B-52's, the Velvelettes, and Spooner Oldham.

Most of the Hey Hey was recorded in Denmark and Sweden, but Junior Senior managed to sneak into American music recording trivia lore by being the last band to record at the famous Muscle Shoals Recording Studio in Alabama. Could it be that they wanted to channel of piece of the Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, and Lynyrd Skynyrd into their beats? Judging by the tracklist, we're guessing no:

As for an American release, Crunchy Frog told Pitchfork by email that they and Junior Senior are currently in discussion with interested U.S. labels, and that an American version of Hey Hey My My Yo Yo will be available either this year or early 2006. The band has also kept busy touring throughout the year, including several September shows in Denmark, with confirmed dates already set for Japan, the one other country astute enough to get Hey Hey into Customs as quick as possible. And for that, they get a full tour in December, with more dates likely to be announced. No plans for an American tour yet, but you can imagine the following dates are American cities, if'n ya want:
