Video: Shop Boyz: "Party Like a Rockstar"
Things that most rock videos should include but don't: Kiss makeup, guitar-smashing, hotel-room trashing, evil clowns, strippers covered in blue body-paint, teenage kids with mohawks fighting outside trailer parks, air-guitaring, Russ Meyer chicks dancing on GTO hoods, explosions, devil-horns, explosions that take the shape of devil-horns. Seriously, Chris Daughtry, nobody wants to watch fucking mechanics pulling their lives together or whatever. And so the "Party Like a Rockstar" video proves once and for all that a high-school-age Atlanta rap group's over-the-top tongue-in-cheek approximation of rock music is way more fun and ridiculous and exciting than the real thing. Director Marc Klasfeld, whose grainy quick-cut Southern rap videos have been the best reason to switch on BET lately, keeps the cliches coming at a relentless pace, and every kiddie-rap group in the country smacks themselves in the forehead and wonders why they didn't come up with this first. Totally dude!
