In the Studio

Exclusive Video: Man Man: In the Studio

Pitchfork recently took a daytrip to Philly to hang out with gypsy-pop masterminds Man Man while they put the finishing touches on their forthcoming third full-length album. They didn't tell us that they'd be firing off bottle rockets in the street and wrestling dogs into bathtubs when we got there.

For Man Man, sound effects like those are standard protocol in recording albums. As frontman Honus Honus tells us in this, our first-ever "Pitchfork Special Presentation" (!!), "We did do a thing on the first record where we held one of the members underwater in a bathtub to simulate drowning. We didn't tell him that, you know, we were simulating drowning."

Here, soundtracked by previews from the new album, the band shows us around their humble Philly apartment, goes crazy on bikes (ghostriding!!), talks about the music... and then there's all that fireworks and bathtub dog stuff. Special thanks to the boys at Juan's Basement for their camerawork and editing skills. Enjoy! We made it just for you...
