"Shawty Is a Ten (Remix)"

Video: The-Dream [ft. Fabolous]: "Shawty Is a Ten (Remix)"

Is it too late for a barbecue? The casual Kellzian rhythm and unburdened lustfulness of "Shawty Is a Ten (Remix)" would've gone down perfectly between watery beers on a hot summer afternoon, and at one point the video even shows people grilling. Terius "The-Dream" Nash is the guy who co-wrote Rihanna's "Umbrella", though his smooth r&b croon on this good-time ode to pretty girls could just as easily fit on the R.'s "I'm a Flirt". Fabolous strolls through an unhurried verse-- "They say she a Pisce/ I heard they are feisty"-- and The-Dream hiccups high harmonies about a girl he remembers from when they were kids in the park. Now she's all grown up ("uh-up, uh-up"), and he doesn't know her name, but she's "a 10" (née "the shit"), all right.

The video moves at a similarly swaying pace, focusing on the performers dancing with a Shawty or three in front of a blank backdrop. "I know I'm late/ But destiny brought me back to you," The-Dream daydreams. Accoutrements include not just a barbecue, but a fancy car, a piano, a bed, and a bathtub. I don't know what "you should tip her" is supposed to mean, but Nash can keep all the change, hey.
