On Repeat: Justice: "D.A.N.C.E. (Les Rythmes Digitales Remix)" [Stream]

"Five billion remixes later, and someone got it exactly right," Pitchfork's infamous Ray Suzuki wrote in this space way back in July. He was talking about the Alan Braxe remix. Five billion and one remixes and an ingenious U.S. TV appearance later, someone else has gotten it exactly righter: Les Rythmes Digitales, aka Jacques Lu Cont, aka Thin White Duke, aka Paper Faces, aka UK electronic musician Stuart Price.

Price long ago proved himself adept at reimagining flawed tunes, with remixes for the Killers, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, New Order, Missy Eliott, and many others. Here he takes Justice's "D.A.N.C.E.", already one of our summer favorites, and gives the track an accelerated, club-demolishing overhaul. It's not even as if the dude's doing anything he hasn't done before-- fading vocals in and out, looping synth arpeggios over a stomping beat, building to climax after climax... I mean, whatever. And crowd cheers? C'mon. But the children's chants don't lie: "Get ready to ignite."
