WTF: The Stooges: "Ray of Light" (Madonna cover; live at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) [Video]
Iggy Pop and his Stooges reuniting for a godawful 2007 album? The Weirdness. Iggy and the Stooges getting the nod to cover Madonna's William Orbit-produced 1998 Ray of Light title track for the Material Mom's induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? OK, that's also pretty weird. The actual performance of "Ray of Light", featuring the always-shirtless Iggy's dropping the melody to a flat baritone as the band thrashes and skronks, was even weirder. The ending, when Iggy quotes "Like a Virgin" then walks through the kitchen to greet an exceedingly well-coiffed Madonna? Too weird, man. And she didn't even seem to recognize Mike Watt. "Feel something!" Iggy shouts. (via The Daily Swarm)
