"Brother Sport" is one of the as-yet unrecorded songs Animal Collective has been playing on tour in the last six months, and here's a high quality, multi-camera documentation of a performance in Lyon, France, back in October at the grrrnd zero venue.. Maybe this video has been around a bit, but it's new to me. Beginning, for whatever reason, with a little Congotronics and stop-motion animation, the action shifts to the live show after a moment. The song is catchy and hypnotic and pretty great, all tropical loops and chanting punctuated by the occasional scream. When people say El Guincho has some overlap with Animal Collective, this is what they're talking about. It's also quite a bit different from what's on their Water Curses EP, which gives an idea of how many good ideas A.C. keep socked away. Thanks to Lee from WSPN for the tip.
