Video: Robyn: "Cobrastyle" (Live on "Late Show With David Letterman")
You may have seen us mention that Robyn's 2005 self-titled LP is finally out in the U.S. this week. The diminutive Swedish pop singer is touring North America to celebrate. Two drummers and a keyboardist, all wearing masks, joined her last night on "Late Show With David Letterman" for this characteristically energetic performance of "Cobrastyle", a Teddybears cover that originally showed up on 2006's The Rakomonie EP before making it onto the newly expanded Robyn. "My style is the bomb," Robyn repeats, and her assured, dancing delivery keeps the fuse burning as she demonstrates that rappers aren't the only ones who can aestheticize swagger. "I guess I'm old-fashioned, but I love to see a bear in a coat and a tie," Letterman opines. I've got nothing to add, except: Check out Nitsuh Abebe's recent Pitchfork.tv interview with Robyn, if you haven't already.
