"What's with all the handsome grandsons/ In these rock band magazines?/ What have they done with the fat ones, the bald and the goateed?", wonders David Berman of Silver Jews in this early track from their forthcoming album Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea. Another probing question from a man who has asked plenty of good ones over the years. "Strange Victory" is a logical place to start with Lookout-- it's got one of the album's best choruses and also gives a good idea of the general feel. If I were the one mixing it, I might have bumped the background vocals down a hair, but hey, that's me. As it stands, it's a brand new Silver Jews song, and that's good news.
