Lifetime Sign to Fall Out Boy's Label

To most people, the word "Lifetime" brings to mind housewives watching made-for-TV movies. But to MySpace nation, it means a massively influential 1990s New Jersey hardcore band. Everyone from My Chemical Romance to your little brother says they were the best band ever.

Or are the best band ever. Lifetime recently reunited for a few shows, including a Shirts for a Cure benefit concert at SXSW. Now, the reunion has become full-blown, as the band has signed a record deal with Decaydance, the Fueled By Ramen subsidiary co-run by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy.

Before crying "SELL OUTS!" and burning those old 7"s in effigy, Lifetime want to have a word with you. The following message was posted on Fueled By Ramen's website last week:

"Pete and Decaydance are giving us an opportunity to make the record we want to make while still staying in control of our music and our lives. They are behind us as artists and because of that, we're backing them as a label."

And it seems as if Lifetime are taking Fueled By Ramen's "No Food. No Sleep. Just Records." slogan to heart, as they've already started working on a new album, which will be their first since 1997's Jersey's Best Dancers.

Jade Tree, the band's former home, recently released Somewhere in the Swamps of New Jersey, a double-disc CD with Lifetime singles, compilation tracks, demos, covers, and more. Lifetime is scheduled to play the Bamboozle festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 7, alongside AFI, Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day, Say Anything, Panic! At the Disco, and a shit-ton of other emo/screamo/hardcore groups. Oh, and Method Man.
