Dntel (Jimmy Tamborello) Signs to Sub Pop

Get your cute on! Dntel, the main vehicle for Jimmy Tamborello's collaboration-fueled brand of electro-pop, has signed to Sub Pop.

The Seattle label is already home to Tamborello's mostly dormant Postal Service, so the move makes perfect sense, and though technically we should be the ones offering gifts at such a housewarming, Sub Pop is already planning the release of a new Dntel album. It has no set release date or tracklist yet but is tentatively titled Dumbluck, and the list of contributors includes Bright Eyes, Grizzly Bear, Mia Doi Todd, Lali Puna, and Fog. Oh, and of course Jenny Lewis, who is giving Devendra Banhart and Jay-Z a run for their money in the competition for the Most Likely to Guest on Any Album in His/Her Chosen Genre award.

Speaking of Jenny Lewis collaborations, Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake-- the first album from Tamborello's James Figurine incarnation (which features Lewis' coos and sighs on one track)-- comes out July 11 on Plug Research. And hey, if it's popular, maybe we'll be reporting on another Tamborello project signing to Sub Pop. We give it about five years.
