Sigur Ros Plan Live DVD, Retrospective Album
On November 5, Icelandic enemies of indolence Sigur Rós will strike two more items off their mammoth 2007 to-do list.
First up: Heima (which means "homeland" and "at home" in Icelandic), a concert film shot in 15 locales around the land of Ice on the band's summer 2006 tour. It will be released on DVD in the UK from EMI. The film includes footage of the band performing free shows in venues both large and small, from "deserted fish factories" and "inside a derelict herring oil tank" to the band's largest-ever concert in Reykjavik. The disc features takes on tunes from all four Sigur Rós albums, and, according to a press release, "is an attempt to make a film every bit as big, beautiful and unfettered as a Sigur Rós album."
You, friend, can check out a trailer for the film in the download section below.
The same date will see the release of the retrospective double album Hvarf -- Heim. The first section, Hvarf, features new recordings of three unreleased songs and a re-recording of "Von" from the group's first album. The second half, Heim, is acoustic takes on six tunes from all four Sigur Rós albums, recorded on tours over the last year or so.
And, in case you happen to be making last-minute vacation plans, I hear Hot Springs, Arkansas is the hot spot this summer for Icelandic musicians-turned-visual artists.
Hvarf -- Heim:
01 Salka
02 Hljomalind
03 I Gaer
04 Von
05 Samskeyti
06 Staralfur
07 Vaka
08 Agaetis Byrjun
09 Heysatan
10 Von
