Photos: Girl Talk and Dan Deacon Meet Tay Zonday
Plus: White Williams Tour Diary Grand Finale
Above photo by Sam HuntIt's been a wild, crazy ride for Girl Talk, Dan Deacon, and White Williams, whose meticulously documented adventures together wrapped up in Iowa City this past weekend. Williams, as you may know, has been sending photo dispatches from the front lines; today marks the final installment of his tour diary, spanning the climax and denouement of the GT/DD/WW trek, plus a little epilogue of Williams exploits beyond.
Bonus: Girl Talk, internet phenom Tay Zonday, and Dan Deacon, at the trio's October 5 show at Minneapolis' First Avenue. 'Nuff said.
All three of these party starters (but not Zonday, alas) have plenty more shows through the end of this year and into the next.
And in case you missed 'em, scope the previous White Williams tour diaries: 1, 2, 3, and 4.
DAY 18: San Francisco, CA, September 29, 2007

On the way to San Francisco, Dennis and Joe discovered this magic bum horse whisperer type who was controlling each pigeon that you can find in this photo. He was manipulating the proximity of each pigeon as well as the style of their flying.

The staff at the Fillmore was the least jockish on tour.

The ghosts of the Fillmore.

More ghosts. We stayed at Laura's house for a while and did a radio spot on Cobain in a Coma.
DAY 19: Oakland, CA, September 30, 2007

We played at LoBot Gallery in San Francisco. It was a unique change from the larger scale venues from tour. We are playing in front of a set of wooden animals and faux wilderness.
DAY 20: San Francisco, CA, October 1, 2007

On our day off we hiked around the crumbling Sutro baths.

When we got home our friend Dennis cooked an amazing eight course meal. Dennis learned how to cook at a secret gourmet restaurant inside Disney Land. Here is Dennis' menu for an impromptu dinner for fifteen guests:
* smoked salmon pizza, creme fresh, capers, onions, white truffle oil
* endive, candied walnuts, dates, bourbon-cane sugar sauce
* minneola tangelo and kalamata olive salad
* cucumber soup
* curried eggplant, cane-sugar sauce
* gnocchi, chard, brown butter
* sole, fingerling potatoes, mixed chard
* cheese course
* minneola semi-fredo (custard), lemon reduction

Dennis brought a propane powered blow torch for the custard.

Our friend Laura was kind enough to host our dinner party.

Before leaving for Los Angeles, Joe found a dog that looked identical to his parent's dog growing up...now dead. Sunny golden retriever mourning...
DAY 21: Los Angeles, CA, October 2, 2007

We played a secret show in a warehouse in downtown L.A. with Atlas Sound.

Left: Rainbow swirls bounce off Tyler's chest.
Right: Hayes enjoying the life of a silhouette.

Bradford from Deerhunter creating waves as Atlas Sound.
DAY 22: Minneapolis, MN, October 3, 2007

We arrived from Los Angeles a little jetlagged. We were picked up at the airport and driven right to our show at the Cave at Carleton College.

Hayes spoils us with a clear path to his brain entryway.

We crashed with some of our buddies. The next morning, Hayes and Ellis talked bikes.

Left to right: Koren, Ellis, Miles, and Hayes. We drank apple juice and played yo-yo together.
DAY 23: Iowa City, IA, October 4, 2007

Darren from the awesome opening band, Wet Hair, and Joe discuss synths.

Noni and Shelley and other Moms helped peddle shirts and CDs. They were at the show with their daughters. At each city a Mom was found and another coin joins the jar.

This image of Dan Deacon gives a clear view to sexemplify the tour in summary; Swift, glowing, transfigured.
DAY 24: Chicago, IL / Daytrotter Studios, October 5, 2007

We got up pretty early and drove to Rock Island where we did a recording session at Daytrotter.

All of our equipment broke so we did our songs a little bit differently.

We played a short but sweet set at the Empty Bottle sans Dan Deacon and Girl Talk.
This dual hand sign symbolizes the conclusion of our tour photo diary. We exchanged a lot of smiles on tour and we're excited to meet you all again on our tour with Battles.
