Weezer Cover R.E.M., Furs, Gary Numan on New Single
Having recently tackled some canon fodder from the likes of Talk Talk and the Band, the gents of Weezer will bring their signature sheen to a few more familiar favorites. On the UK singles for The Red Album's "Pork and Beans", arriving on CD and a pair of 7"s June 23 from Polydor, Weezer have matched the track with a trio of intriguing covers.
The CD finds the band power-chording their way through "Are 'Friends' Electric?", originally done by the Gary Numan-led Tubeway Army. One 7" finds it matched with the Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way", and the other, R.E.M.'s "Oddfellows Local 151" [via NME.com, confirmed by a press release].
Weezer (and you, maybe) will geek up another favorite-- Radiohead's "Creep"-- on those "Hootenanny" shows they've got going on this week.
